Artificial Fertilizer Avoided: Assumption: Using an application rate of 100 kg of NPK 20:20:10 fertilizer per hectare per year, this would result in the release of 270 kg of CO₂ emissions from its manufacture which can also be avoided by replacement with a composted biochar/manure mix.

Biochar Needed: The total amount of biochar in tonnes needed for the application on the selected area.

Biochar Cost: The expected total cost in € for the needed amount of biochar of the selected type.

CO₂e emissions: This adjusts the tons of biochar by the correction rate for the application to soil, and then multiplies it by 3.67 to give the weight of CO₂ (When two oxygen atoms bind to a carbon atom, the combined mass of the carbondioxide molecule is 3.67 times that of the carbon atom on its own. The avoided CO₂e emissions from the replacement of the artifical fertilizer is added.
