Biochar and Permeable Cities

Dear all,

We would like to invite you to our next THREE C CPD event on Friday 10.03.2023 from 10:00 to 12:30.
Our topic on Friday is “Biochar and Permeable Cities”.

We all know that we have to use water in a sustainable way.

In view of water shortages also in Central Europe (see the droughts in North Italy (prominent exampes are the Lake Garda and water scarcity in the plains of the river Po, or water shortages in Lake Constance, Germany) and lack of precipitation (see France), it must be clear to us throughout Europe that we can no longer waste our drinking water for purification and waste water transport purposes.
At the same time, heavy rainfall at certain points causes flooding, which requires intelligent land use, planting and water management, especially in urban areas.

Biochar can play an essential role in water management. It can be used to treat polluted water, e.g. grey water purification or to create water-saving substrates, create urban retention areas and provide healthy growing media for trees.

For our event on Friday we have again been able to win 2 well known experts and we are very much looking forward to their inputs and discussions

Programme :

  1. The potential of viochar for municipal wastewater management (focus on purification of grey water on facades); Dr. Susanne Veser, Synercity, Leonberg Germany.
  2. The potential of viochar for municipal water management (focus on permeable cities); experiences from Graz and Stockholm -> Gerald Dunst, Sonnenerde, Austria
  3. Final discussion and perspective: further development of European cooperation projects on the topic of “Permeable Cities”.

In this context, we would also like to draw your attention to the THREE C conference on 13-15 June, which will start on the 13th with an excursion to innovative purification plants and lighthouse projects using biochar solutions.

At the conference on 14/15 June we will hold workshops on “Municipal Water Management with Vegetable Carbon” and related “Development of European Funding Projects”.

Participation in the events is funded by the THREE C project.

Hope to see you soon!
