Field trial started!
The seed company Culinaris from Göttingen has started a field trial to investigate the effect of biochar in growing and potting soils on plant growth.
In three pot trials, tomatoes, courgettes and peppers will be grown in a potting soil containing +5% / +10% biochar fertilised with vinasse.
Two different types of biochar, one made from spelt husks and one made from wood chips, will be compared. In addition, a small trial with growing soil and biochar in a quick pot with maize will be carried out.
In all trials, growth will be recorded up to planting, and the tomatoes will also be monitored in the field after planting – yield will be recorded.
