Estimated Additional Value: The estimated total value in € for the produced amount of biochar.

Carbo: This adjusts the tons of biochar by the correction rate for the application to soil, and then multiplies it by 3.67 to give the weight of CO₂ (when two oxygen atoms bind to a carbon atom, the combined mass of the carbondioxide molecule is 3.67 times that of the carbon atom on its own.

CO₂e emissions reduction by decomposing on site: Assumptions: Wood chips and whole deadwood contains about 25% carbon by weight when fresh (assumung ~50% moisture). It is estimated that an average of 10% of this carbon is lost each year for the first five years, through the action of fungi and bacteria decomposing the wood. Each tonne of wet wood will therefore release 900-950kg CO2e over 5 years Burning the wood on site would release all 900-950kg of CO2e immediately. As decomposition or burning are alternatives to conversion to biochar, the avoided emissions are NOT additional to the sequestration savings.
