As part of this year’s reveal15 confrenence, all THREE C participants went on an excursion to two pyrolysis plants in Germany. The day started at the composting plant in darmstadt with a lecture by Susanne Veser from the German Biochar Association. She showed us an experimental setup with urban trees planted on substrates enriched with biochar.

After the joint lunch, a tour of the large pyrolysis plant at the composting plant in Darmstadt-Kranichstein followed.

Later, the excursion continued to the Hugk family in Zierenberg near Kassel. Since the end of last year, they have been operating a small pyrolysis plant on their tree care farm. In the evening we were kindly provided with excellent food and a barbecue.
